ASICS
ASICS is one of the world’s most storied running brands, built around the philosophy that a sound mind lives in a sound body. The campaign work produced at Ronin Amsterdam arrived at a particular and unrepeatable moment: the world was slowly opening again after the pandemic, and people were returning to movement not just for performance but for something much harder to name.
The Challenge
This was not a moment for optimization language. People had spent two years inside their heads, and what they craved when they laced up their shoes was reconnection: with their bodies, with nature, with themselves. Every running brand talks about performance and gear. The question was what ASICS could say that nobody else would say, and mean it.
The Approach
Each campaign began with a question: what does this shoe actually mean to the person wearing it? Not what does it do, but what does it open up. Trail running is not just a sport. It is a way of looking outward into the natural world and inward into yourself at the same time. That distinction shaped the language across every touchpoint.
The Craft
Concept development and copywriting across multiple ASICS launches including the GEL-NIMBUS, the trail running collection, and the women’s running campaign across EMEA. The real challenge was balance. ASICS is a deeply technical brand: the engineering of their shoes, the data behind their cushioning systems, the insights of the athletes who wear them. All of that had to live alongside the human truth without flattening either side. The copy had to move between the poetic and the precise without the reader ever feeling the seam.
“This run is for me. To get out of my head and into my body. To reconnect, to find my stride, and feel myself.”
