Glosario Gastronómico de la Nueva España
The idea behind “Glosario Gastronómico de la Nueva España” originated when I first moved to Barcelona in late 2020. I was quite surprised when I saw how many Latin American products had become commonplace in the local supermarkets and small bodegas. However, it felt like these products were becoming more common among a younger generation of Spaniards, not necessarily among the older generation who was still somewhat apprehensive about these new foreign “exotic” products. I wanted to introduce these products in a light-hearted way to a local demographic while showcasing this contrast between the older symbols of Spain and these new gastronomic imports from their former colonies. I juxtaposed the older faces of Spain as they interacted, sometimes for the first time in their lives, with these Latin American products.
